Holiday Cracker Snackers
Out smart the holidays with the easiest no bake appetizer you could ever make. I have had this little treat (also known as "fire crackers") at all kinds of functions from baby showers to New Year's Eve gatherings. It's usually prepared as a seasoned saltine cracker that pairs nicely with chicken or tuna salads. At my house we like to mix things up. So I've modified the recipe and made it even easier to make by using oyster crackers. (If you've ever made them with saltines, you'll know that it is a little tedious trying to coat every side of the crackers.) You can present this dish as a starter preceding your meal, an hors d'oeuvre, or package it ever so nicely for a hostess gift. No mater what, this simple sampler always receives a lot of attention!
Ingredients
(1) 10 oz. bag of oyster crackers
1/2 cup of canola oil
(1) 1 oz. packet of ranch dressing mix
1/2 tsp of garlic powder
1/2 tsp of dill spice
1 tbsp red pepper flakes
1 large sealed/lidded container or zippered freezer bag
Directions
Pour the oyster crackers into the large sealed container or zippered storage bag
Combine all of the remaining ingredients in a separate bowl
I personally start with my canola oil in a measuring bowl and add everything else into it
Mix the ingredients well
Pour the mixture over the oyster crackers
(The fun part ;-) Shake the crackers in the sealed container until they are coated with the oil mixture
I also prefer to let my crackers sit for an hour before serving so that the mixture has dried
Serve and Enjoy!
