Cranberry Peppermint Christmastinis
During the year I purchased a couple of new styles in martini glasses, adding to my collection of elegant dishes. These new ones have inspired me to make good use of my elegant stemware during the holidays when there's often more company coming over. One of my two Besties was so gracious to hang out with me over the weekend and sample the series of holiday recipes that I have coming to the blog. This one I had the idea for, but together we actually composed the "mixology", if you will, for this festive beverage (now I'm a mixologist, LOL ;-). We were so very pleased with the taste, and over the top about nailing a holiday look, too! This is one you have to enjoy with family and friends this holiday season. If you don't already hold the crown of "hostess with the mostess" this one is sure to don you the title!
Ingredients
Yields: 1
2 oz. vodka
1 oz. Cranberry Juice
1/2 oz. Lime Juice
1/2 oz. Peppermint Simple Syrup
1 Crushed Candy Cane
1 lime
Whole Fresh Cranberries
Fresh Mint Leaves
Ice
Directions
Shake the vodka, cranberry juice, lime juice (we squeezed ours fresh), and peppermint syrup (see directions below to make this yourself, too!) in a shaker with ice, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
We frosted the rim of our glasses with the crushed candy canes after dipping each rim into the peppermint simple syrup. Finish it all off with a lime wheel, mint leaves and a few cranberries floating to garnish.
Easy Peppermint Simple Syrup
Ingredients:
1 cup of White Sugar 1 cup of Water 1 Tablespoon of Peppermint Extract 6 Broken Candy Canes
Directions
Add all of the ingredients, less the candy canes, in a pot. Bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and whisk until the sugar is melted. Remove mixture from the heat. Add the broken candy canes into the pot and let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes to cool. Strain out the candy cane pieces and pour the mixture into a jar with a lid. Keep refrigerated until ready to use.
