Let the Merry Begin!
It's December 1st, so let the Merry begin! We have our first Christmas tree up, decorated with none other than my favorite ~ MacKenzie-Childs. This is our living room tree, one of the three we put up for the holidays. Although very pretty, this one is snow flocked (#VERYMessy, FYI). We added in the strings of mini lights, appropriately choosing the color red, and for the Oh my whimsy affect, for ornaments we used the MacKenzie-Childs small Evergreen gift bags with Courtly Check tissue paper inside. It took about eight bags and one bag of tissue paper for the effect we wanted. We also placed some of the large Evergreen bags under the Christmas tree. The mini tree ornaments are the ones I purchased at the McDonald Garden Center Sip & Shop, along with the ice skate ornament, and festive tree topper~ the red top hat. Oh, not forgetting this tree's Courtly Check ribbon. This ribbon width is a 2" wide and it has the wire inside for ease in molding to your desired décor. We decided on the vertical flow of the ribbon instead of the wrap-around for this look. It took just about a whole spool for the three rows we adorned this tree with. The whimsical swirly picks were AC Moore craft store finds, and I think less than $3 each! My favorite in this mash-up was actually adding in the real enamel teapots! We have two enamel teapots up here, and the third is the glass tea kettle ornament. Tip ~ The real enamelware definitely made things heavy and the branches began to lean, so we added some concrete pavers under the tree skirt to hold it all down ~ Oh My Whimsy!
